Fractional resurfacing in Charlotte, NC
Fractional resurfacing is a proven way to help reduce or eliminate wrinkles, age spots, acne scars, and other blemishes. It also serves to tighten skin and balance tone. Lasers can do so much in how they act on your skin. Your Charlotte dermatologist can help you be informed about your skin problems and the results are you hoping for. What skin problems do you want to address, and what results are you hoping for? Consider the benefits of fractional resurfacing in Charlotte:
How does it work?
The ProFractional™ laser creates thousands of microscopic channels in the skin, which are surrounded by areas of healthy skin. The untreated skin activates the body’s natural healing process, the treated areas stimulate the production of new collagen. This results in plumper skin and smoothing out of wrinkles, lines, scars, and other irregularities. Because it delivers energy deep into the dermal tissue, fractional resurfacing causes wound-healing response and stimulating fibroblast activity. Fibroblasts turn on new collagen production, rejuvenating the collagen matrix and plumping the skin from the inside out. ProFractional™ treatment is not the same as a CO2 or deep chemical peel. It requires nothing more than a protective ointment such as Aquaphor or Vaseline.
Who should consider a fractional resurfacing?
Candidates for the ProFractional™ laser have skin issues such as scars, wrinkles or sun damage. The procedure rejuvenates the skin, leaving a more youthful appearance. The face, neck, chest, and hands can be treated with the ProFractional™ laser. Typically, procedures take from 30-45 minutes, depending on the condition of the skin and the size of area being treated.
How long is the healing process?
The healing process will vary from patient to patient. Typically, healing will take from two to seven days. The procedure can be performed on a Thursday or Friday and you should be able to return to work the following Monday. Immediately following the procedure, your skin will feel similar to a bad sunburn. The following day will be characterized by minor sloughing and itchiness. The next day, redness will begin to fade. By day three, any apparent redness can be easily covered by makeup. This time frame can be affected by the depth of your treatment. Your Charlotte dermatologist can advise you on how best to protect your skin to maintain the results you receive from your ProFractional™ treatment.
