Exilis Ultra™ Radiofrequency Treatment

Exilis Ultra™ uses monopolar radiofrequency and ultrasound energy to heat tissue causing tissue tightening and body contouring. Advanced Skin Cooling allows Exilis Ultra™ to target heating of tissue from 2mm to 2.5cm in depth. So, deeper tissue such as fat and collagen can be targeted at various depths. Removal of ½ inch to 2 inches in circumference of the treatment area occurs depending on treatment site and amount and depth of fat present.

RF is colorblind and can treat ALL skin types and sun tanned skin.

RF energy is used to deliver volumetric heating to tissue.  This creates rapid (2-3 million times/second) movement of molecules within tissue.  This movement creates heat.  The sophisticated cooling system protects the upper layers of skin, allowing the heat to be deposited where it is needed for the desired effect from 2 mm to 2.5 cm in depth.  The treatment tissue is monitored by a real time temperature sensor which ensures controlled and painless heat in the deeper tissue.

Skin tightening requires heating of the superficial layers of the skin whereas fat reduction and contouring often needs deeper heating.  Treatment depth is based on the amount and location of the fat. The Exilis Ultra™ is versatile and can treat patients with different needs.

Getting Started

Talk with any member of our staff to get general information.  Visit our patient education room in our office to see before. You are not required to do anything special prior to your treatment session. If you are having a body treatment please drink lots of water before, day of and 2 days after treatments to help improve lymphatic drainage. Skin should be hair free.  Men undergoing facial treatments must shave the morning of the session. You may continue all medications, supplements and vitamins during your treatment period. Wear comfortable clothing on the day of your treatment to allow easy access to treatment areas. No make-up, creams or lotions on skin; no jewelry.

What to Expect

The procedure is gentle, non-invasive, and safe. There should be minimal or no discomfort, however this varies from patient to patient and depends on the depth of the treatment.  A ground pad will be applied opposite to the treatment site. Mineral/baby oil is applied to the treatment site. Treatment time approx. 6 – 15 minutes per area (approx 5’’ x 7’’).  The fat is rapidly heated to a therapeutic temp and will be maintained for 5-10 minutes.  The settings are adjusted to keep you comfortable while maintaining the optimal treatment for results.  There is NO PAIN associated with your treatment, only a moderate to intense sensation of heat which tells you that the treatment is achieving its goal. There is NO ANESTHETIC required with EXILIS  treatments.

Redness and some local swelling may appear and will resolve soon after treatment. You may feel a deep heat sensation for up to 24 hours after the treatment.

For Skin Tightening:

You may experience transient erythema (redness) that will last from a few minutes to an hour or possibly longer.

Your skin may feel warm immediately after the treatment, but this will dissipate quickly.

If you had your lower face or chin treated, you may have some tenderness in the area for a few hours or a day after.

Treatment of the eyes may yield some swelling and patients are encouraged to sleep on two pillows for 24-48 after treatment.

For fat reduction:

You may experience transient erythema (redness) that will last from a few minutes to an hour or possibly longer.

Your skin may feel quite warm for up to a few hours after treatment as deep tissue retains heat longer.

You may feel tenderness in the treated area.

Drink lots of water before and after your treatment to help improve lymphatic drainage. Walking & light physical activity after treatment are recommended to increase lymphatic drainage and removal of fat.

Any area of your body can be treated. The most popular treatments for tightening are the neck, abdomen, arms, face and legs.  Fat reduction is commonly performed on the abdomen, thighs, knees, arms and anywhere undesirable fat is found.
